<p>You know, there are a whole lot of people that are saying the same thing as you. &#8220;I&#8217;m gonna be able to get back in those jeans again. <em>I love the way they fit</em>&#8220;.  Being able to slide into your favorite jeans again will feel great.</p>
<p>The problem is that, just like you, a lot of people have gained a lot of &#8220;unintended&#8221; weight over the past year or so.  Does this sound familiar? &#8220;I mean, where did it all come from?&#8221;</p>

<h1>A Common Weight Loss Myth</h1>
<p>Whether you&#8217;re trying to lose 10 pounds or more, one of the most common myths in dieting is this: All you have to do is stop eating, or, just eat less, and you&#8217;ll lose weight. If you have ever tried this type of dieting you have probably found out that it doesn&#8217;t work too well.</p>
<p>There are a couple of reasons why this doesn&#8217;t work too well and it&#8217;s because they are closely related to one another. Reason number one is that your body is wired to protect itself. When you stop eating you&#8217;re body goes into &#8220;body protection&#8221; mode and starts to shut down all non essential activities to conserve energy and store it in the form of fat.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s sort of like in one of those movies on TV. You know the ones where there is some sort of natural disaster headed toward some small town. When all the town&#8217;s folk know that a big storm is coming in, what do they do?</p>
<p>That&#8217;s right, they head right over to the store and buy up all the food and then go store it in the cellars and pantry. And, they don&#8217;t eat it all at once. They eat just a little to make sure that they have enough for the long haul.</p>
<h2>Why You Can&#8217;t Lose Weight</h2>
<p>Well, that&#8217;s just what your body does. It starts to store up food (fat) for the long haul because it the body doesn&#8217;t know how long this starvation diet thing is going to last. And so this is why  when you restrict a lot of calories it seems like you just <em>can&#8217;t lose weight</em>.</p>
<p>Another reason (and more basic) that just not eating doesn&#8217;t seem to work too well when you&#8217;re <em>trying to lose weight</em> is this: Your body is programed to eat.</p>
<p>There are 3 primary things that our bodies are programed to do:</p>
<p>1. Have sex and make babies</p>
<p>2. Protect ourselves from external threats like attack dogs, freezing weather, mean people, and so on.</p>
<p>3. Eat!! or, nourish our bodies.</p>
<p>Look at it this way&#8230; our bodies are programed to eat food, drink water, and breathe air. There is no getting around it. When we starve ourselves, we are going against nature and that&#8217;s a losing battle. Don&#8217;t think so? Try to restrict your breathing just like you try to restrict your eating&#8230;</p>
<h3>Find Out How To Lose Weight Without Starving</h3>
<p>So, how do you lose weight if it&#8217;s not about eating less? Well, I didn&#8217;t say that. I just said that severe calorie restrictive diets will generally back fire.</p>
<p>Proper dieting is not about restricting calories. It&#8217;s about eating the right kind of calories. If you give your body the right kind of calories it&#8217;s a lot <em>easier to lose weight</em> and be more fit.</p>

<p>A lot of people are struggling to <strong>lose stomach weight</strong>. The extra rolls in the mid-section seem to be out of proportion with other parts of the body. In some people, it&#8217;s pretty easy to tone up the legs and butt, but there seems to be that stubborn bulge around the stomach area that doesn&#8217;t go away no matter how many sit-ups someone does.</p>
<p>Many times if someone is having a hard time to lose stomach fat it&#8217;s because they may have a lot of visceral fat. This is also called organ fat. It&#8217;s different than the fat in other parts of the body where it&#8217;s called subcutaneous fat.</p>
<p>Visceral fat is fat deposits around the organs of the abdomen. It makes the stomach look like its poking out. There are a couple of health issues that people with visceral fat need to be aware of. Medical studies indicate that there is a correlation between high amounts of visceral fat and diabetes and cardiovascular disease.</p>
<p>With that in mind, it is probably a good idea to check with your doctor about your particular issues. The problem with Diabetes and Cardiovascular diseases is that they generally have no symptoms that alert you to them. And, by the time people find out that they have these issues the conditions are pretty far advanced.</p>
<p>Another interesting thing to know also  about diabetes, heart disease, and high blood pressure is that diet can actually have a profound effect on them.</p>
<p>Diets that emphasize avoiding a lot of carbs and eating whole foods not only lead to weight loss but also do not promote  diseases like diabetes or heart disease. That&#8217;s why you always hear doctors saying to eat more fruits and vegetables. (when&#8217;s the  last time a doctor said &#8220;go out and eat some donuts or go to McDonalds&#8221;?).</p>
<h2>Important Point To Lose Stomach Weight</h2>
<p>If you want to lose stomach weight you have to get your eating under control. You&#8217;ve no doubt heard that it is better to eat many small meals throughout the day (approximately 5-6), than to go all day without eating and then &#8220;gorging&#8221; yourself on dinner in the evening. But did you ever wonder why?</p>
<p>The fact is, your body can only process about 350 calories every 90 minutes. Eat more than that, and you&#8217;re most likely overloading your digestive system. If your body cannot use all the &#8220;fuel&#8221; you provide it at any given time, it will use what it can (and only what it can), and then store the rest as body fat. It assumes, through thousands of years of experience, that there will be &#8220;lean&#8221; times when it will need those fat reserves for fuel. But in this modern age, we, thankfully, seldom face those lean times.</p>
<p>Because of this, if we are to keep our weight from spiraling out of control, if we want to <em>lose stomach weight</em>, we must, by CHOICE limit our quantities of food, as well as the KINDS of food.</p>
<p>So, how do we use this information in losing weight? Simple. Eat light, but eat often. There are many benefits to this strategy.  First, you are only providing your body what it needs, when it needs it. Second, you are able to better maintain a consistent blood sugar level, and so you&#8217;re not left feeling tired all day.</p>
<p>And by making certain wise and healthful choices, you will find the 350 calorie limit CAN be quite filling. Make poor choices, however, and you&#8217;ll be left feeling unsatisfied. So be sure to choose healthful fruits &amp; vegetables and limit your intake of breads &amp; cereals (these calories will add up fast). Also, when including meat in the diet, choose ONLY healthful, low-fat fish &amp; fowl.</p>
