Whether you’re trying to lose 10 pounds or more, one of the most common myths in dieting is this: All you have to do is stop eating, or, just eat less, and you’ll lose weight. If you have ever tried this type of dieting you have probably found out that it doesn’t work too well.

There are a couple of reasons why this doesn’t work too well and it’s because they are closely related to one another. Reason number one is that your body is wired to protect itself. When you stop eating you’re body goes into “body protection” mode and starts to shut down all non essential activities to conserve energy and store it in the form of fat.

It’s sort of like in one of those movies on TV. You know the ones where there is some sort of natural disaster headed toward some small town. When all the town’s folk know that a big storm is coming in, what do they do?
